Grand Theft Auto 6: Ubisoft Shares Their Thoughts on Rockstar’s Latest

Ubisoft recently shared its perspective on the highly anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto 6 and its expected 2025 launch. The company believes that the release of such a blockbuster title will have a positive impact on the broader video game industry. If GTA 6 hits its 2025 launch window, it will mark 12 years since the last main installment, making it one of the most eagerly awaited games in recent history.

With the massive popularity of the GTA franchise, its release is expected to dominate the gaming landscape, potentially overshadowing other media and entertainment launches. However, Ubisoft doesn’t seem concerned.

In a recent investors’ call, covered by GameSpot, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot shared optimism about GTA 6’s release. Guillemot mentioned that the launch of a Grand Theft Auto game often draws more players into gaming, which ultimately benefits other titles in the market. He cited the success of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, which was released shortly after GTA 5 in 2013 and still became a major hit for Ubisoft.

Ubisoft’s Optimistic View on GTA 6’s 2025 Release

Currently, GTA 6 is projected to drop in fall 2025. While Ubisoft has yet to announce its 2025 lineup, the company typically schedules major releases during the same period. It’s quite possible that a big Ubisoft title will debut around the same time as GTA 6.

Although no 2025 dates have been confirmed, Ubisoft is focusing on its upcoming 2024 slate. Big releases such as Star Wars Outlaws in August, Just Dance 2025 in October, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows in November are already lined up. Meanwhile, several potential 2025 releases, like Anno 117: Pax Romana, the next Assassin’s Creed entry, and the Splinter Cell remake, could find themselves in close proximity to GTA 6’s launch. Despite the competition, Ubisoft seems confident that its titles will thrive alongside Rockstar’s juggernaut.
